Reed Exhibitions has announced the cancellation of the 2008 National Construction Exhibition (NCE) – which was to have been held in Sydney in early August. NCE’s co-located event in Sydney, the National Truck & Commercial Vehicle Expo (NTCVE), will expand into some of the area originally to be occupied by NCE. According to John Gorton, Reed Exhibitions’ director, industrial group, the decision to cancel NCE was taken with great reluctance and disappointment. “Reed Exhibitions is in the business of putting on quality trade exhibitions, for which there is strong industry demand – as shown by our highly successful portfolio of mining events, including AIMEX, QME and GME,” he said. “In the case of NCE, the response from the marketplace was not sufficient to ensure that we could put on a successful event for the civil construction sector in 2008. “However, we remain open to discussions with leading organisations servicing the industry about managing a construction-related exhibition for NSW in the future,” said Gorton. NTCVE, which will be located in The Dome and adjacent halls at Sydney Olympic Park, will have on display hundreds of new trucks alongside a vast range of related road transport equipment, technology and products. Many new releases are planned. It will be held from August 7-9, 2008. Further information: John Gorton, Reed Exhibitions - Australia, ph (02) 9422 2511, email john.gorton@reedexhibitions.com.au.
